Sacha Rougier (Keynote)
Head of Itinerary Planning and Destination Experiences
Explora journeys
As Head of Itinerary Planning and Destination Experiences, Sacha Rougier is responsible for defining worldwide routing and itineraries, creating enriching and respectful destination experiences in each port for Explora Journeys - MSC Group’s newly created luxury cruise brand, that launched in June this year.
In her role, which she assumed in July 2020, Sacha’s remit includes working alongside onboard revenue management, fleet management and port operations. Prior to joining Explora Journeys, Sacha was Managing Director, Cruise Gate Hamburg GmbH (CGH), a subsidiary of the Hamburg Port Authority. As operator of the three cruise terminals CGH she oversaw terminal operation, berthing allocation, international cruise development and EU Lobbying as well as terminal planning. Before her employment at CGH, Sacha worked for the Port of Marseille, where she held various positions in marketing and cruise development.
Sacha Rougier has played an active role in Hamburg´s cruise development as former member of the Board of trustees of the “Hamburg Cruise Net.” She furthermore held various positions in Board at Cruise Europe, Chair of the Cruise Committee IAPH and co-lecturer on Port Economics & Business Programme at the University for Maritime & Air Transport Antwerp (C-MAT). Passionate by classical music, Sacha is member of the advisory board of the Elbphilharmonie and Laeiszhalle (ELBG) and supervisory board of Hamburg Musik GmbH.
Sacha holds a Master in Change Management and a Bachelor's degree in European Studies (Economics, German and Spanish).

Capt. Bryan Bender (Itinerary Planning Workshop)

Capt. Bender has been a Merchant Marine Captain since 1991, and has 20 years experience in the U.S. Coast Guard. He led software product development for maritime security, situation awareness, and collaboration in both the military and the private sector, and is certified in UX design by Nielsen Norman Group. Prior to founding PortCall.com, Capt. Bender was VP of UX for The Mariner Group.

Glenn Burnett (The Future of Sustainability in Cruising)

Glenn Burnett is a Senior Technical Advisor in the Maritime Policy department of Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA). His work is focused on supporting internal policy development and external policy advocacy for CLIA within the portfolios of Environment, Security, Cybersecurity and Public Health. Glenn is an experience IMO delegate with a history of developing policy positions and facilitating collaboration between parties. Glenn received a BS in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering from Webb Institute.

Sarah Flink (Itinerary Planning Workshop)
Director, CruiseMaine
Sarah Flink joined the CruiseMaine coalition in 2017 and has been serving as Executive Director since spring of 2018. Since coming to CruiseMaine, she has overseen an overhaul of the mission, branding and website, and helped facilitate a statewide Cruise Visitor Survey. Along with spearheading the marketing and sales efforts, Sarah continues to emphasize community engagement and partnership to expand economic benefit to the state of Maine while also addressing the challenges that come with any type of industry.
Prior to joining CruiseMaine, Sarah had extensive experience in the hospitality industry as a manager at some of the most well-known restaurants in New York City, including Blue Hill, Little Park and Lafayette. Her experience also includes work with a strategic communications firm, a tech startup and as a philosophy professor. Throughout her career, Sarah has focused on relationship building, project management and process improvement.
Originally from rural Minnesota, Sarah lives in Portland and spends as much time as she can sailing along the Maine Coast.

Dan Holmes (The Future of Sustainability in Cruising)

Dan holds degrees in Naval Architecture, and also in Engineering Research from Southampton in the United Kingdom. Dan has worked for nearly 25 years in such roles as research and development, ship inspections, maritime risk and human element, and strategic advisory. In his current role as Business Development Manager for North America at Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore, Dan is responsible for promoting holistic decarbonisation strategies within the marine and offshore sector and is involved with technology and life extension solutions to support owners in their goals to decarbonise in a cost effective manner.

Chris Martin (The Future of Sustainability in Cruising)
Director, Port Operations, Holland America Group
Chris Martin joined Holland America Line in January 2004 as Manager, Port Operations, administering all port-related matters worldwide for the fleet. Over the years, his responsibilities have included planning and coordination of ports and itineraries, overseeing environmental management aspects for the fleet, and acting as a direct liaison between Holland America Line and various regulatory agencies. Chris was promoted to Director, Port Operations in October 2009. With the formation of the Holland America Group in December 2014, he is now responsible for port operations for Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Seabourn, and P&O Australia.
Prior to joining Holland America Line, Chris spent 9 years with Princess Cruises and Tours managing land-based divisions in Alaska and developing new port agency, shore operations, and port services for emerging destinations.
Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business from the University of Puget Sound and a Master of Science in Management Communication from the University of Portland. He currently resides in Seattle, Washington with his wife and three kids.

René Trépanier (Itinerary Planning Workshop)
Executive director Cruise the Saint-Lawrence
René Trépanier has worked in the tourism industry for thirty-five years, holding a number of different positions over the years, including general manager of the Atlantic Salmon Interpretation Centre and president of Groupe Imaginature, a tourism consultancy. He is one of the founders of Le Québec maritime, an organization dedicated to international destination marketing.
René is a past president and chief executive of Fêtes du Québec maritime, a major event organized to pay tribute to the maritime community, while raising general awareness of maritime heritage across the Saint Lawrence region.
Executive director of Cruise the Saint Lawrence since 2005, René was recently appointed to chair a provincial committee set up to promote sustainability in Québec’s tourism industry. He also co-chairs a committee instituted to foster and support the decarbonization of the maritime transport sector in Québec.
Honoured with a 2015 Cruise Award from the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA), René Trépanier is broadly recognized as the face of marketing at Destination Saint Lawrence and the driving force behind the cruise industry success of the nine member ports of call stretching over 1000 kilometres along the shores of the majestic Saint Lawrence.
