Freeport with Eagle Island

Seacoast Tours of Freeport - Eagle Island & Lobstering Demo Excursion

 

Eagle Island, the former summer home of Admiral Robert E. Peary and his family, is a Maine State Park and Registered National Historic Landmark!

​

Our tour offers a glimpse into the fascinating life of Admiral Robert E. Peary, known for his extensive explorations to the North Pole.

Our tour begins in the working harbor of South Freeport, Maine. We’ll wind our way through the beautiful islands of Casco Bay, past seals, lobster buoys, and view the lobstermen as they haul traps in Broad Sound. On our return from Eagle Island, we will pull a few traps ourselves and discuss Maines iconic fishery - lobstering. 

 

Our destination, Eagle Island is a water access only State Park, and a must see for anyone who enjoys coastal Maine. Time: 3.5 hours, plus 15-minute shuttle each way from downtown Freeport. 

 

Please note: Eagle Island does not meet ADA standards and is not accessible to mobility impaired people.

Seacoast Shuttle will pick up passengers in front of L.L.Bean at 95 Main St., where cruise ship shore excursion passengers disembark.

 

Lunch included.
 

 3:30 PM 

Seacoast Shuttle will drop passengers off in front of L.L.Bean at 95 Main St., where they may board the bus back to Portland.

Freeport with Wolfe's Neck Farm

Wolfe’s Neck Center for Agriculture & the Environment, Broad Arrow Tavern, and Browsing Freeport’s world-famous L.L.Bean Flagship Store, Outlets, Boutiques, and Galleries

11 a.m. - Welcome to Wolfe’s Neck Center! A 626 acre education and research farm on mission to transform our relationship with farming and food for a healthier planet. Nestled against 3 miles of coastline in Freeport, Maine, visitors can visit the barns and fields to get a hands on and up close look at agriculture in action! In addition to the sustainable farm, which has operated for over 60 years, Wolfe’s Neck Center is home to farmer training programs, a wide variety of education programs, a research hub for climate-resilient agricultural practices and an oceanfront campground.

12:15 p.m. - Enjoy lunch at The Harraseeket Inn, a 94-room luxury inn in downtown Freeport, just a short walking distance from shopping, galleries, and the passenger drop-off location. Our Broad Arrow Tavern offers locally sourced organic and all-natural cuisine and a highly acclaimed lunch buffet for quick service. Our menu offers steaks, seafood, sandwiches, salads, burgers and brick-oven pizza with vegetarian and gluten free options available. The Tavern offers cocktails and an extensive beer and wine list. Enjoy a relaxing and delicious meal on our seasonal outdoor patio or in our air-conditioned restaurant.

Climb aboard the hay wagon for a tractor tour of Wolfe's Neck Center! As you enjoy the open air tractor ride across the 600 acre farm, you’ll pass grazing cows and sheep, organic fruit and vegetable gardens, sustainable orchards, and beautiful ocean views of Casco Bay. Educators will explain the history of Wolfe’s Neck, and all of the exciting happenings on the farm. We’ll have multiple stops to dive in deeper about our sustainable farming practices, our climate research and of course, to say hello to some of our favorite animals.

1:30 p.m. - Enjoy free time to discover why your passengers love Freeport, Maine! Home to the L.L.Bean Flagship Campus, our historic village offers a wide variety of outdoor outfitters, national outlets, local boutiques, and art galleries - many of which are housed in 19th and 18th century homes! Safe, walkable and quintessential New England, Freeport is only 20 minutes north of the cruise ship terminal in Portland.

 

3:30 p.m. - Guests meet in front of L.L.Bean at 95 Main St., where they may board the bus back to Portland.

The Kennebunks

Take in the heart of Kennebunks: A behind-the-counter experience

 

Close but a world away, the Kennebunks are a picturesque seaside community located in Southern Maine and offering natural beauty, history and culture.

 

Enjoy a day in Kennebunkport learning about the inner-workings of what cruise ship passengers experience! It will be an unforgettable day in one of New England’s top destinations.

11:00 AM - 1:00 PM:

For this part of the excursion, we will be splitting the passengers into two smaller groups of 10-12 people each for a more personalized experience. 

 

The first group will head to Sea Love, a make-your-own candle boutique, first and then on to our world famous Clam Shack. The second group will head to The Clam Shack first and then to Sea Love. Both groups will come back together afterwards.

10:00 AM - 10:45 AM:  

Travel from Portland to Kennebunkport. Cruise ship shore excursion passengers will be dropped off at Cross Street in Dock Square. 

 

Kristin & Kyra from KKACC will greet passengers upon arrival with a custom Anchor (our flagship printed newsletter) to showcase how the Chamber greets our wonderful visitors. 

 

We will guide the passengers to their destinations along a beautiful scenic walk through Dock Square, with the Kennebunk River at its heart. It’s here that millions of visitors have come to shop, dine and gather for generations.

Sea Love - Enjoy a nautical-themed candle making session at Sea Love. 

 

The session includes:

  • Choosing your own scent

  • Choosing your own nautical label

  • 12 oz tumbler candle to take home with you

 

By the end of this experience, we hope Sea Love has you leaving inspired and in your happy place!

 

The candles will need time to cool and will be brought to the bus on Cross Street right before departure back to Portland.
